Last December, the First meeting of High Level Expert Group on taxing the digital Economy took place. The question of how to to tax adequately the digital economy has become a pressing issue for the EU, particularly in how to cut down corporate tax avoidance. It has become clear that taxation needs to be redefined to support the growth of this sector, while ensuring that digital companies pay their fair share.
Experts debated complex issues in order to define possible strategies and solutions. The experts are supposed to report back to the Commission before summer.
