Infringement procedures against four EU countries

The European Commission on 22 March published five press releases concerning infringement procedures in the field of taxation against Belgium, Germany, Sweden and United Kingdom.
Belgium has been noticed because of problemas in the personal income tax andtaxation of property income from abroad, Germany due to tax treatment of group companies, Sweden for its tax rules on pension funds, and finally the UK is charged with the exiting taxes on companies
The infringements procedure under Article 258 goes through three stages: formal notice, reasoned opinion and referral to the Court. The first stage takes the form of a formal request for information  to investigate the case and remains confidential, whereas in the case  of reasoned opinions and referrals the Commission issues a press release informing the public.
